If you think a week in Cyprus is out of reach for your budget, think again! We recently managed to enjoy an incredible getaway for two, all for under £400 each, and we’re excited to share how we did it.
Welcome to sunny Cyprus!
Choosing Our Accommodation
We found a fantastic self-catering apartment situated in the Cypriot village of Xylophagou, just outside the popular resort of Ayia Napa. For just £181 and blessed with a 9.6 review score, we found this little gem on Booking.com and it became our home away from home for the week. With a lovely balcony overlooking fields and a traditional Greek church, it was the perfect spot to enjoy our morning coffee and soak up the sunshine. The apartment came equipped with essential cooking facilities, allowing us to prepare our meals and save on dining costs. Having a washing machine was a game changer too; we packed light and washed our clothes mid-week, making our stay even more convenient (and as sad as it sounds we're clearly of an age where watching our laundry drying quickly in the sunshine is one of life's little guilty pleasures!!) Flights to Paradise
Flying with EasyJet from Gatwick to Larnaca was both affordable and straightforward. We booked our tickets online towards the end of January for travel in early March, so not even very far in advance, and managed to snag tickets for just £42 each return! Not too shabby for a 4.5hr long flight. (go onto talk about how the flight was)

Smart Parking Solutions
To save even more, we used our Tesco Clubcard points to cover the bulk of the cost of airport parking at Gatwick. It felt great to use points we had accumulated from our regular shopping and fuel purchases to reduce our travel expenses and it's always amazing to see the balance owed brought down to just £20!!

Packing Light
To avoid the hefty luggage fees often associated with flights, we opted for underseat bags for our packing. This strategy not only saved us money but also made navigating the airport much easier. We packed efficiently, bringing only the essentials, which was perfect for our week-long adventure.

Smooth Travels with Car Hire
Upon arrival at Larnaca Airport, we picked up our rental car, which we pre-booked online for an excellent rate. We only needed a small runabout so we chose a Hyundai i10 with full insurance from Autounion (booked via Booking.com). The full week's rental was just £111 and having a car made exploring the beautiful island a breeze. On arrival at the car rental office we were really excited to see that we'd been allocated a Citroen C1 with a retractable roof! During the week we visited stunning beaches, charming villages, and breathtaking historical sites at our own pace, ensuring we made the most of our time.

Creating Unforgettable Experiences on a Budget
In the end, our week in Cyprus was not only affordable but also filled with unforgettable experiences. With smart planning around flights, accommodation, and transportation, we managed to enjoy a beautiful destination without breaking the bank.
